Austin junk hauling

Have some old junk you’re planning on hauling out of your house? Make sure you do it the right way!

Here are a few tips from Austin junk hauling contractor Dirty Work to get you started.

Do – Identify what’s trash.

It sounds easy to identify what’s junk, but in reality, it can be a little tricky. You know the old adage – one person’s trash is another’s treasure. It couldn’t be truer. For this reason, we recommend that you only trash items that are broken, ruined or safety hazards and that can’t be recycled. Everything from old electronics to old furniture to old books can be recycled. To simplify the process for our customers, Dirty Work automatically recycles everything we can. This way our clients don’t have to worry about it. All they have to do is identify the items they no longer want; we’ll handle the rest.

Don’t – Be afraid to question your contractor.

A good junk hauling contractor will be able to tell you exactly what will happen to your stuff. Will it be recycled? Will it go the landfill? Can you request they haul your old furniture to Salvation Army?  If the company doesn’t provide specific information, then you might want to consider hiring someone else. This could be a sign that the company engages in illegal dumping.

Do – Send a picture.

At Dirty Work, we give all our clients an estimation of the cost of a job first. To assist us in providing the most accurate estimates possible, we’ll ask the clients to send in a picture of the work they need done. This works out great for everyone. We know exactly which services the client will need before we head out there and the client knows exactly what these services will cost. If you’re considering hiring a junk hauling company, we recommend you send in a few pictures too.

Don’t – Forget to ask about insurance.

Junk hauling companies aren’t required to have insurance, but it’s important that you only hire insured companies. If a worker from an uninsured company damages your home or property while hauling away your junk, you’ll have to eat the cost. To avoid this, make sure to ask about insurance up front.
