Did you know that 38% of the litter found on America’s roadways is used cigarette butts?

TerraCycle, a company that focuses on upcycling items that are hard to recycle, has partnered with the Santa Fe Natural Tobacco Co, to implement a new cigarette butt recycling program aimed to keep these used butts off our roadways.

How does it work?

Under the new program, citizens are encouraged to contact TerraCycle to receive a free envelope with the postage paid. They then simply pick up the cigarette butts they see littered around and mail them in to TerraCycle who will recycle them.

What could be simpler than that?

Since this program has just been announced, we’re waiting to hear more about it, but we’ll be keeping our readers updated.
