When it comes to hauling away your junk, you may be wondering if you should do it yourself or just hire someone. There’s no one-size-fits all answer, but here are some things you should consider…

How much junk do you have to haul away?

Hauling away junk is hard work. If you have a large amount of junk to get rid of, it’ll be easier to hire someone and let them do all the work.

Do you have a variety of junk?

If you have a variety of junk as in some items need to be donated, some items need to be recycled and some need to just go the landfill, it’s easier to have a contractor sort through it all and make sure it gets to the right place than you having to make three trips.

Do you own a truck?

Cars simply weren’weren’t meant for hauling around junk. Your seats can get ripped or stained or your interior scuffed. If you don’t own a truck, you might want to consider hiring someone else to haul that junk away.

Do you want your junk to get recycled?

It’s a lot more difficult for someone to make sure their junk gets recycled properly than, to say, drop it off at the dump. Fortunately, many junk hauling companies will recycle your junk for you at no extra cost.

Is the price worth it?

Hauling your junk off yourself may seem like the cheaper option until you factor in convenience and time costs.  Are you willing to spend several hours hauling your junk? After factoring in paying the dump fees and mileage costs, how much are you really saving by doing it yourself? These are the important things to consider when deciding whether or not it’s worth it to do it yourself.
