Habitat for Humanity Restore

Did you know that Habitat for Humanity needs used building materials? This means if you’re planning on remodeling your home, you’ll have a great opportunity to save your materials from a landfill, help a great organization and get a tax break!

Habitat for Humanity runs dozens of “ReStores” across the country. These stores take donations of new or gently-used building supplies, resell them to the public and use all profits to fund the building of Habitat for Humanity homes.

The Austin Habitat for Humanity Restore was the first of its kind in the United States when it opened 21 years ago. Now, the store donates about $500,000 each year to other Habitat programs and there are 750 other ReStores located in 48 other states aiding their mission.

By encouraging reuse, the store has saved more than 13 million pounds of reusable construction material from going into landfills!

And as Austin’s only discount home improvement store, the Habitat for Humanity ReStore has provided affordable building materials to hundreds of shoppers.

The ReStore frequently has light fixtures, cabinets, mirrors, sinks, tiles, flooring and doors hanging around. But you never know what else, you’ll find! New donations are received daily.

If you would like to visit the Austin ReStore, it’s opened Monday-Friday 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. for shopping and Monday-Friday 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for donations. The store is located at 310 Comal, Suite 100 in Austin, Texas 78702.

Or if you’re planning on hiring a demolition company for your remodeling and want one who will donate the supplies for you, contact Austin demolition provider Dirty Work at 512-328-3698.
